The Queen's Green Canopy

The Friends of Saltwells Nature Reserve have worked alongside the Saltwells wardens, local residents, school pupils and their teachers, and the young people participating in The Prince’s Trust ‘Get into Woodlands’ course, to plant trees at Dudley Wood. The trees will form part of The Queen’s Green Canopy in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this year.

Around 700 trees were planted, including beech, crab apple, grey alder, Italian alder, wild cherry, wild pear, blackthorn, hawthorn, rowan, dog rose and guelder rose. We look forward to watching the trees thrive, creating a new natural habitat to be enjoyed by the local community for many years to come.
